Over time your computer's performance declines without regular maintenance. Just as with your motor vehicle, routine maintenance is critical in insuring peak performance and avoiding major breakdowns. Your Windows operating system and other installed software also need to be updated on a regular basis in order to fix bugs, take advantage of new features, and increase protection against hackers and viruses.
 
Our Clean-Up/Tune-Up services will help improve the speed and performance of your computer, protect you from computer viruses, spyware, and hackers, and minimize the potential for data loss. We provide these services* at a very affordable price because we know if we significantly improve your computer's performance now you'll keep coming back to us for all of your IT support needs in the future.

Here's what we will do during our Basic 15 Step Security & Performance Checkup...

  1. Check system for obvious system errors, viruses and spyware
  2. Check system memory to determine if sufficient RAM is installed to allow operating system to perform full capability
  3. Check hard drive to be sure sufficient free-space is available (lack of free space can slow your system down and/or cause crashes)
  4. Verify that the system clock is set to correct time, date & time zone (can affect web page access)
  5. Tweak hard drive configuration to improve data seek performance for faster hard drive performance
  6. Optimize Internet Explorer settings for maximum web browsing speed and performance
  7. Configure Internet Explorer security settings for a balance between secure web browsing and "hassle-free" web surfing
  8. Verify that you have adequate protection against hackers by confirming that your firewall is enabled properly
  9. Check for current and up-to-date virus protection software and recommend a solution if needed
  10. Check for current and up-to-date anti-spyware software and recommend a solution if needed
  11. Install FREE anti-virus/anti-spyware software (if needed) to provide protection from viruses and spyware, with instructions on how to run a scan
  12. Check to be sure your system is sufficiently protected from power surges and nearby lightning strikes
  13. Check the status of Windows Updates Service Packs and advise you of which updates and/or Service Packs need to be downloaded and installed (broadband Internet connection required)
  14. Provide instruction for vacuuming/blowing out interior dust and debris to extend life of computer
  15. Provide a review of the results of the Check-Up and provided recommendations for addressing issues found and for improving the overall performance of your system

(This Basic Clean-up/Tune-up is only available as a "carry in / drop-off" in-shop service)

Here's what we will do during our Standard Clean-up/Tune-up...

Our 25 Point Standard On-Site Clean-up/Tune-up includes standard maintenance procedures for improving your computer's speed and performance, free software to protect against viruses and spyware (if needed), a quick clean-up of your hard drive, and our exclusive PC Maintenance Guide to help you maintain your PC yourself! Please allow 60 to 90 minutes for this service.

Everything included with a Basic Check Up (See items 1-15 above) plus...

  1. Configure Windows display settings for a balance between best appearance and best performance
  2. Delete the "Temp" folders in all accessible user profiles to improve performance
  3. Run a basic virus/spyware scan to detect and remove most commone viruses, worms and spyware programs (more severe infections may require an additional $50 charge).  Please note that this service does not include the cost of reinstalling the Operating System, which is sometimes required for extremely severe infections.
  4. Perform a clean-up of your Windows Desktop, moving unneeded icons into a desktop folder for your review
  5. Perform a clean-up of the programs that start up at boot-up to speed up your computer's start-up time
  6. Remove unneeded/unwanted software and "trial programs" installed on your PC by the PC's manufacturer
  7. Perform registry and/or network connection tweaks to maximize web browsing speed
  8. Provide instructions for defragmenting hard drives to improve performance
  9. Create a "Monthly Maintenance Folder" on your desktop containing links to the programs you need to keep your PC running at peak performance, with links to tutorials showing you how to use them
  10. Review the programs in the Monthly Maintenance Folder with you and provide links to tutorials for using each of them

Here's what we will do during your Deluxe Clean-up/Tune-up...

Our 40 Point Deluxe On-Site Clean-up/Tune-up includes comprehensive maintenance procedures that address almost every aspect of your computer's performance. This service include several free software programs, numerous thorough scans, all Windows Updates (broadband required), verification of adequate wireless network security, and our exclusive Monthly Maintenance folder to help you maintain your PC yourself. Please allow up to two hours for this service.

Everything included with the Standard Clean-up/Tune-up (see items 1-24 above)

  1. Perform a System File Check to be sure all Windows system files are intact and not corrupted
  2. Install a FREE program that lets you easily control which programs start automatically when you boot-up
  3. Perform a thorough Windows Registry clean-up, to maximize Windows performance
  4. Perform a complete system hard drive clean-up, removing all unneeded "temp" files to improve performance
  5. Download and install all High Priority (security-related) Windows Updates (broadband Internet connection required)
  6. Enable Automatic Updates to be sure your PC stays updated with the latest Windows Updates (an important security safeguard)
  7. Clean all CD drives to insure optimal performance
  8. Remove dirt and debris from the keyboard to improve responsiveness
  9. Clean the inside of your ball mouse to improve responsiveness
  10. Install the FREE Google toolbar to make web searches easy and convenient (if wanted and not already installed)
  11. Run three different full scans for viruses, spyware and rootkits to detect and remove most common malware.
  12. Enable a spyware "immunization" program to minimize the possibility of spyware infections
  13. Run a complete malware scan on the Windows system folder and all user profiles (personal settings and files) of your PC to detect and remove common malware problems
  14. Verify that adequate wireless network security is enabled, with a solution recommended if needed
  15. Provide instructions for checking hard drive for bad sections (repairs are automatic)

Here's what we will do during your Premium Off-Site Clean-up/Tune-up...

Our 55 Point Premium "Total Service" Off-Site Clean-up/Tune-up includes everything done during our Deluxe On-Site Clean-up/Tune-up, plus additional services and software designed to make your PC perform better than new. This is our "we do it all" service that touches virtually every hardware component and every Windows process to make sure your PC is operating at peak performance. We even set up wireless network security (if necessary) on all of your household networked PCs, and we clean out your computer (inside and out). Just give us a call; we will pick up your PC from your location, bring it back in 3-5 business days, hook everything back up and test your system to be absolutely sure you are thrilled with our service!

Everything included with the Deluxe Clean-up/Tune-up (see items 25-40 above)

  1. Verify that all internal computer devices are working properly (via the Device Manager)
  2. Upgrade Windows Update to Microsoft Update (if needed) to insure all Microsoft programs are updated automatically (including Office)
  3. Download and install all needed Windows Updates including Microsoft Office (broadband Internet connection required)
  4. Download and install any needed Windows Service Packs
  5. Check hard drive for bad sectors and repair any problems
  6. Perform a Data Defragmentation on the system drive to improve Windows performance and overall PC speed
  7. Perform a Data Defragmentation on any other hard drives to improve data load speed
  8. Install a FREE program that will manage your passwords and automatically fill in web page forms
  9. Run a complete virus scan on all hard drives to detect and remove all viruses, rootkits and worms
  10. Run multiple spyware scans on all drives to detect and remove spyware programs
  11. Verify that the PC is free of all traces of viruses, rootkits and spyware, with additional removal procedures included if needed
  12. Install a FREE "phishing" protection program to protect you from "fake" web sites
  13. Thoroughly clean exterior computer case and vacuum/blow out interior dust and debris to extend life of computer
  14. Generate a report that lists all of the details regarding your computer's hardware and all installed software
  15. Verify (on-site) that adequate wireless network security is enabled, and configure security on all networked PCs if needed
